Easier access
Make the bathroom easier to use.
A lower shower entry, seating, well-placed support, or more room to move may be useful now or later. Tell the contractor what is difficult about the current bathroom. They can assess what the room allows and which changes suit your needs.
Step-free entries and grab-bar installation need careful planning. Ask the contractor to explain the proposed design, fixing method, and any limitations.
Cost
What can change the cost?
A contractor needs to assess the room before quoting. These are useful points to discuss.
Layout and plumbing.
Moving a toilet, drain, or shower can add work compared with keeping the existing layout.
The condition of the room.
Water damage or repairs behind walls and floors may affect the scope once the room is opened.
Materials and installation.
Tile, wall panels, glass, and installation details can change both material and labour costs.
Fixtures and finishes.
Vanities, taps, lighting, and accessories are choices to discuss against the overall budget.
Questions
Before you start.
Can you tell me what my bathroom will cost?
We can explain what affects the cost, but we don’t quote renovation work. A contractor needs to discuss the scope and may need to see the room before providing a quote.
Do you do the renovation?
No. We arrange introductions. Your contractor discusses the project, provides the quote, and is responsible for the work and warranty. Your renovation agreement is with them.
How many companies receive my request?
One eligible contractor receives your request first. We don’t send it to a list of companies at the same time. Any later introduction follows our sharing policy and your consent.
Am I obliged to hire the contractor?
No. An introduction gives you a chance to discuss the project. You decide whether to arrange a visit, accept a quote, or hire the contractor.
Ready to talk to someone?
Tell us about your bathroom and we’ll check for a suitable participating contractor in your area.
